Serchhip DC Inaugurates International Paragliding Championship 2024

Serchhip : The International Paragliding Championship 2024 was officially inaugurated today in Serchhip, Mizoram, marking the start of a week-long aerial competition. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Serchhip District Commissioner (DC), Pu Paul L. Khuma, who also serves as the Chairman of the International Paragliding World Championship Organizing Committee.

During his address, DC Pu Paul L. Khuma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mizoram Government and the Mizoram Aerosports Association (MASA) for their collaborative efforts in making this prestigious international event possible in Serchhip. He conveyed his best wishes for a successful and rewarding experience to all participating pilots from around the world.

The championship will take place from today until Friday, December 13, culminating in a closing ceremony at the Zawlpui landing site, where Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma will preside as the chief guest.

Out of the 30 participating pilots, 17 are from India, including 8 from Mizoram. Pilots from South Korea, Nepal, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia are also competing in the championship.

In addition to the aerial competition, the International Paragliding Championship and Aerosport Festival features various stalls at Zawlpui, showcasing the region’s rich culture and attractions. A Fish Angling Event is also underway, adding to the festive ambiance. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy tandem paragliding flights after the championship concludes.
