Union Minister Announces Nine Projects Worth ₹30,000 Crore for Rajasthan
Jaipur : Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s goal is to make India the third-largest economy in the world. To realize this vision and transform India into a $5 trillion economy, the Central Government is working with full commitment.
Shri Gadkari was addressing the session titled ‘Infrastructure: An Important Link in the Supply Chain’ organized as part of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit at JECC on Tuesday. He said that water, energy, transportation, and communication are the fundamental needs for the development of any country. By developing these four sectors, the progress of the nation and states will be ensured.
On this occasion, Shri Gadkari announced nine projects for Rajasthan worth ₹30,000 crore, spanning 800 kilometers.
The projects include:
- Northern Jaipur Ring Road at a cost of ₹6,500 crore,
- Kotputli to Agra Greenfield Highway at a cost of ₹6,800 crore,
- Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur to Amritsar Greenfield Highway worth ₹12,000 crore,
- Elevated road from Raipur to Jassakheda in Pali at ₹538 crore,
- Road construction from Nagaur to Netra costing ₹1,400 crore,
- Bypass construction in Sikar-Laxmangarh-Fatehpur for ₹500 crore,
- Road construction from Jhunjhunu to Chidawa-Singhana-Pacheri for ₹1,400 crore,
- Road construction from Singhana to Khetri-Jasrapur-Nangli-Saledi-Bhatiwad for ₹600 crore,
- Landslide repair work on the Kundal-Jhadod section at ₹400 crore.
Double-Engine Government Transforming State Infrastructure
Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma stated that efforts by the double-engine government in sectors like roads, railways, airports, irrigation projects, and energy are transforming the infrastructure of the state. He noted that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has been especially cooperative in developing the state’s basic road infrastructure. In the desert areas of the state, highways spanning 2,000 kilometers have been constructed, along with bypasses and ring roads in several towns and cities to ease traffic.
State Boasts Over 300,000 Km of Road Network
Shri Sharma emphasized that 58% of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor falls in Rajasthan, giving the state direct access to 40% of India’s markets. He further mentioned that Rajasthan has the third-largest highway network in India, directly connecting the country’s major cities and industrial hubs. The state’s road network now spans over 300,000 kilometers.
Expansion of Roads, Rail Network, and Air Connectivity
The Chief Minister highlighted that Rajasthan has the second-largest rail network in the country, with 6,000 kilometers of railway tracks simplifying freight transport both within and outside the state. Additionally, the state boasts seven airports, including Jaipur International Airport, and continuous efforts are being made to improve air connectivity.
He also mentioned that two multi-modal logistics parks in the state are simplifying logistics by connecting various modes of transport. Rajasthan is home to eight inland container depots, which assist in cargo handling and reduce the burden on ports. The state government is also constructing 53,000 kilometers of roads, with steps being taken for the first-ever construction of nine greenfield expressways spanning 2,750 kilometers.
