Other needy outside the night shelters also get food and blankets from CM

Gorakhpur : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the double engine government is committed to ensuring dignified housing for every needy person. Houses have been given to people in rural and urban areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, while free night shelters have been arranged for the economically weaker people coming to the city for some work, he added.

CM Yogi was talking to media persons after inspecting four night shelters in Gorakhpur on Tuesday evening. During the inspection, the Chief Minister directed the officials to provide good facilities for every needy person in the night shelters.

The administration was directed to ensure that all night shelters are adequately equipped with beds, blankets, and proper cleanliness, along with provisions for food for those in need.

The Chief Minister inspected the night shelters built near the railway station, near Kachhari bus station/student union crossing, Dharamshala and near Jhulelal temple, talked to the people staying there and checked the available facilities.

He also inaugurated the newly built night shelter in Dharamshala. In all the night shelters, the Chief Minister distributed blankets and food to the needy. Additionally, the Chief Minister extended this gesture to hundreds of individuals outside the four night shelters, reaffirming the government’s commitment to serving them. The Chief Minister also gifted chocolates and toys to the children that were present with their families.

CM Yogi enquired about the well-being of all the people staying in the night shelters and also had a cordial conversation with them. The night shelters house not only residents from various areas of Purvanchal, such as Deoria, Kushinagar, Ballia, Gagaha, and Chaurichaura, but also individuals from Bihar.

Many staying in the night shelters had come to Gorakhpur for medical treatment, work, or other reasons. During his inspection, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally inquired about their well-being and arrangements. The residents, moved by his visit, expressed gratitude, saying they faced no issues as “Baba” himself was looking after them.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed further that to protect the general public from severe cold and cold wave, the state government has released sufficient funds to every district to distribute blankets made in UP to 4 lakh people in the first phase. Along with this, the administration has been directed to prepare a list of needy people and ensure blanket distribution, he added.

The Chief Minister said that in the last 10 years, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 56 lakh families have been provided pucca houses in the urban and rural areas of the state. Apart from this, houses will be provided to four lakh people soon.

“Despite these arrangements, for those visiting urban areas for treatment or other purposes who cannot afford hotel or rental accommodations, the double-engine government has set up night shelters in cities through local bodies,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister said that the government has made arrangements at many levels to ensure that no one dies, or shivers, from the cold. In the Basic Education Department, arrangements have been made to provide sweaters to children by sending money to their parents’ accounts, while blankets are being distributed among the needy.

He said that in the coming time, extensive arrangements will also be made for bonfires at public places to protect the public and animals from the cold wave.

MP Ravi Kishan, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLA Vipin Singh, BJP’s Metropolitan President Rajesh Gupta, Mahant Ravindra Das of Kalibari, along with officials of the administration, police and municipal corporation were present during the inspection.

CM distributes blankets & food to visually impaired

During his visit to the Railway Station Road night shelter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath noticed visually impaired individuals standing nearby. He called them over, personally handed them blankets and food, inquired about their well-being, and directed officials to ensure they receive all entitled government benefits.

Yogi tells officials to build 3 more night shelters

While inspecting the night shelter on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district administration and municipal corporation officials to build three more night shelters for the convenience of the needy in urajkund Bargadwa and Rapti Nagar areas of Gorakhpur.
