Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin’s Christmas Message
“Turn away from the principle of ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,’ and instead follow the words of Christ who preached patience, saying, ‘If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn the other also,’ and advocated compassion with, ‘If someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic.’ Jesus Christ taught the world to ‘Love your enemies,’ embodying kindness even toward those who harm us.
In a world plagued by hatred and conflicts, spreading love, compassion, and peace is the most righteous path. On this sacred day, I extend my heartfelt Christmas greetings to all Christians who embody and uphold these values of love and forgiveness.
For the welfare of minority communities in Tamil Nadu, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), under its leadership, has implemented many initiatives, such as the Minority Welfare Board, Minority Economic Development Corporation, and the Department of Minorities Welfare, as envisioned by Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar Karunanidhi.
Continuing this legacy, the Dravidian model government has introduced:
- Financial assistance for pilgrims visiting Jerusalem increased to ₹60,000, with direct disbursement starting in 2024.
- ₹8 crore allocated for the renovation of 8 Christian heritage structures.
- New Christian Women’s Hostels in Karur, Madurai, and Erode.
- Through the Christian Women Welfare Fund, ₹4.32 crore has been provided to 3,345 women across Tamil Nadu.
- Minority status granted to numerous Christian educational institutions.
- Welfare schemes for pastors and workers in Christian organizations.
Our government remains committed to fostering interfaith harmony, social unity, and goodwill, ensuring Tamil Nadu thrives as a state of peace, equality, and inclusive growth. On this joyous occasion, I extend my warm Christmas greetings, wishing everyone love, peace, and happiness.”
