Hyderabad, June 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said the state government is exploring the establishment of a large integrated data centre and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure campus as part of its efforts to position Telangana as a leading destination for emerging technologies and digital investments.
The Chief Minister made the remarks during a meeting with Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, who paid a courtesy visit to him in Hyderabad.
During the discussions, Revanth Reddy urged Bharti Enterprises to significantly expand Airtel’s presence in Hyderabad by strengthening its digital services, cloud computing, cybersecurity and AI operations. He also requested the company to expedite the launch of its proposed data centre project at Chandanvelli.
To facilitate future investments, the Chief Minister suggested that Bharti Enterprises nominate a senior executive to coordinate with the Telangana government and ensure the speedy resolution of issues related to upcoming projects.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Sunil Bharti Mittal informed the Chief Minister that Bharti Enterprises is actively considering Hyderabad as the second headquarters for Airtel. He also assured the state government that the company intends to expand its data centre capacity in Telangana while further strengthening fibre connectivity infrastructure across the state.
The Chief Minister briefed Mittal on the Telangana government’s ongoing reforms in education and skill development aimed at creating a future-ready workforce for technology-driven industries.
He highlighted initiatives such as the establishment of the Young India Skill University, the modernisation of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), and the strengthening of polytechnic institutions to equip students with industry-relevant skills.
During the meeting, Sunil Bharti Mittal announced that the Bharti Foundation would provide scholarships to students studying in government schools and Advanced Technology Centres, extending support to the state’s efforts to improve access to quality education and skill development.
