Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus Expresses Condolences on Dr. Manmohan Singh’s Demise

Dhaka: Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, describing him as a close friend and a visionary leader. In his condolence message, Yunus highlighted Dr. Singh’s humility, statesmanship, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Indian people, noting that he will be remembered for transforming India’s economy.

Yunus emphasized Dr. Singh’s role in fostering strong ties and mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and India, praising his contributions to regional peace and South Asian collaboration. He recalled Dr. Singh’s dedication to advancing prosperity and cooperation in the region, urging others to honor his legacy by continuing to promote his ideals.

The Chief Advisor shared fond memories of his interactions with Dr. Singh, including a congratulatory message from the late Indian leader in 2006 when Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize. He also recalled his meetings with Dr. Singh during a visit to New Delhi in January 2007 and the Second Professor Hiren Mukherjee Annual Parliamentary Lecture in 2009.

Yunus extended heartfelt condolences to Dr. Singh’s family, the Indian government, and its citizens, honoring the profound legacy of the former Prime Minister.
