Present the Planned Blueprint for Various Works for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik – Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik

Mumbai : Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik has instructed that a planned blueprint for works related to transportation arrangements, planned Sadhugram, citizen security, and solid waste management, based on the local requirements for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik in the year 2027-28, should be presented.

In a high-level committee meeting organized at the Secretariat regarding the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik in 2027-28, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik provided guidance. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of Transport Sanjay Sethi, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department-1 Asim Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department-2 Dr. K.H. Govindraj, Principal Secretary of Environment and Climate Change Department Pravin Darade, Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam, Director of Tourism Dr. B.N. Patil, Nashik District Collector Jalaj Sharma, Nashik Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Dr. Madhav Kusekar, and various department officials.

Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik stated that, keeping in mind the dates for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, infrastructure development, facilities for accommodation of saints and ascetics at Sadhugram, construction of vehicle parking areas, citizen security, law and order, beautification of the area, preservation, purification, and beautification of the Godavari River and its tributaries, creation of green zones, crowd control, healthcare, and other related works should be finalized through local administration meetings and then presented at the state level.

She further emphasized that there should be detailed planning for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. To review the works at the district and state levels, meetings should be organized within a specified time, ensuring all systems work together, and a high-level committee should be established to assist in making necessary improvements in the planned works.

During the meeting, Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam and Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri presented the proposed works for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
