FASTag Made Mandatory for All Vehicles
Mumbai : The state cabinet has decided to make FASTag mandatory for all four-wheeler vehicle owners starting April 1, 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The implementation of this decision from April 1, 2025, is expected to reduce traffic congestion and save both fuel and time.
Vehicle owners whose FASTag is inactive will be required to pay double the toll fee. Similarly, if toll payments are made through cash, smart cards, credit or debit cards, codes, or any other mode, a double toll fee will also be charged.
Deputy Chief Minister Shinde also stated that the decision will be implemented across 50 toll plazas under the jurisdiction of MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) and 23 toll plazas managed by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the state.
