Sakhi Saheli group changed lives through fish farming

The women of Shuklabhatha-Vicharpur village of Mungeli district have set a new example in the direction of self-reliance. The positive result of the efforts being made by the district administration for the economic empowerment of women as per the vision of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai is clearly visible in the efforts of Sakhi Saheli self-help group.

The women of the group started fish farming business by taking a loan of six lakh rupees from Setganga Gramin Bank under National Rural Livelihood Mission. Their financial condition has improved due to this business. Group President Mrs. Pushpa Bai Gabel said that earlier women were dependent only on farming. Due to low income, the needs of the house could not be met. After joining the group and getting a revolving fund of Rs. 15,000 under the government’s revolving fund, they took a loan from the bank and started fish farming business. Gradually expanding the business, now they have become financially strong.

This success of the women of the group has not only improved their lifestyle, but they have become an inspiration for other women. The group’s president expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the district administration and said that this success is the result of the government’s schemes and their proper implementation. This story of Sakhi Saheli group is inspirational for all those women who are striving to change their lives.
