TN Deputy CM Launches ‘Nakshatra’ App and Compassionate Job Orders for TNEB Families

Honorable Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin handed over compassionate appointment orders to the families of 311 employees who passed away while serving in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). He also introduced a new “Nakshatra” mobile app for the benefit of retired TNEB employees and distributed digital life certificates to pensioners.

During an event held today (9.1.2025) at the Chennai headquarters of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the Dravidian model of welfare. Since May 7, 2021, 2,420 compassionate appointments have been provided in TNEB, and with the 311 orders issued today, the total has reached 2,731 appointments.

The newly launched “Nakshatra” app is designed to simplify processes for retired employees and their families. This user-friendly app allows pensioners to access various services such as monthly pension details, pension certificates, and e-KYC-based digital life certificates from their homes. It also facilitates medical insurance registration and other essential tasks. The app is expected to benefit around 1 lakh pensioners across Tamil Nadu.

In the event, Hon. Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise Mr. V. Senthil Balaji, MP Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, and senior officials, including Dr. P. Ila Sengapattayan IAS, and Mr. K. Nandakumar IAS, participated. Three pensioners were also presented with digital life certificates during the ceremony.
