Modern Amenities to Be Provided in Fish Markets: Fisheries Minister Nitesh RaneFoundation Stone Laid for Fish Market in Sangli
Sangli : The construction of the fish market being undertaken by the municipal corporation must be of high quality and standard. The administration and local representatives should ensure that this fish market is equipped with all modern amenities, said Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane during a ceremony here today.
Minister Rane was speaking at the event organized after the foundation stone laying ceremony of the modern fish market being constructed by the municipal corporation in Sangli’s Khanbhag area. Present at the event were MP Vishal Patil, Sangli Miraj Kupwad City Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shubham Gupta, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Trupti Dhodmise, Acting Resident Deputy Collector Dadasaheb Kamble, Pune Regional Deputy Commissioner of Fisheries Vijay Shikhare, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ravikant Adsul, City Engineer Prithviraj Chavan, former MLA Nitin Shinde, Neeta Kelkar, Samrat Mahadik, Swati Shinde, Sunanda Raut, and several current and former municipal officials.
A Vision for Development:
Minister Nitesh Rane described the project as excellent and emphasized the need to continue the development process. He also announced plans to add another floor to the structure and include a cold storage facility, urging the submission of a proposal for the same. “We will approve it promptly and are committed to meeting public expectations as a government. Once the fish market is ready, vendors should avoid selling on the streets and operate exclusively within the market,” he added.
Support from Local Leaders:
MP Vishal Patil noted the significance of building such a modern facility in Sangli city. He expressed his willingness to provide additional support through the MP fund if needed, to ensure the project’s success.
Municipal Corporation’s Commitment:
Municipal Commissioner Shubham Gupta stated that temporary arrangements had been made for the vendors until the fish market is completed. Efforts will be made to finish the structure at the earliest. Proposals for an additional floor and cold storage facility will be submitted soon, which will provide excellent opportunities for fish vendors to conduct their business.

Swati Shinde detailed the efforts undertaken to construct this facility and mentioned future plans to modernize Sangli’s Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Stadium.

In his introductory speech, Additional Commissioner Ravikant Adsul provided an overview of the fish market being built under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. A large number of citizens and businesspeople attended the event.
