BJP Promises ₹2,500 Subsidy for Women and ₹500 Cooking Gas Aid in Delhi Manifesto

Delhi: The BJP unveiled the first segment of its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections on Friday, with a strong focus on women’s welfare. Key promises include ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women, ₹21,000 financial support during pregnancy, and ₹500 subsidized cooking gas cylinders for the underprivileged. Additionally, the party pledged a ₹2,500 monthly pension for senior citizens.

Releasing the “resolution letter,” BJP President JP Nadda emphasized that these welfare initiatives would lay the foundation for a developed Delhi. “Women’s empowerment and senior citizens’ welfare are central to our vision for Delhi,” Nadda stated.

Nadda assured voters that if the BJP comes to power, all existing public welfare schemes would not only continue but also be enhanced and implemented more efficiently. Referring to AAP’s free bus travel initiative for women, he said, “Bus travel is free, but how many buses have been added to the fleet? We will ensure the fleet is expanded to meet demand.”

Currently, the AAP government in Delhi offers a range of welfare schemes, including free electricity up to 200 units, free water, free bus travel for women, and free pilgrimages for senior citizens. In its manifesto, AAP promised ₹2,100 monthly assistance to women, while Congress has offered ₹2,500.

Reacting to BJP’s manifesto, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the saffron party of copying his party’s initiatives and labeled them as “rewadi” (free gifts). He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he claimed was hypocrisy, stating, “The PM criticizes freebies but accepts them when announced by his party.”
