2,500 drones illuminate the sky in a spectacular show on National Tourism Day
Mahakumbh Nagar : Prayagraj witnessed a breathtaking spectacle on Saturday evening during the Mahakumbh 2025 as 2,500 drones lit up the sky, delivering a special performance on the occasion of National Tourism Day. The event, held along the Sangam coast, showcased the epic tale of ‘Samudra Manthan’ through dazzling lights and religious symbols, captivating audiences with a blend of tradition and technology.

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is organizing the grand drone show from January 24 to 26, marking it as the largest drone display to date. The event beautifully merges tradition with modernity and will conclude on Republic Day, January 26.
Jaiveer Singh, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Mahakumbh area has been transformed into a world-class pilgrimage site. The drone show exemplifies the union of Indian culture and spirituality with cutting-edge technology by depicting the story of ‘Samudra Manthan’ and the origin of Mahakumbh.”
The drone show featured special presentations on UP Foundation Day on Friday and National Tourism Day on Saturday. The performances not only entertained spectators but also celebrated India’s vibrant cultural heritage and technological advancements.
In addition to the drone show, a joint event was held by the Tourism and Culture Department at Awadh Shilpgram in Lucknow on Saturday. Activities included cultural presentations, a meet-up for travel influencers, and discussions on eco-tourism, aiming to elevate Uttar Pradesh’s recognition as a premier global tourist destination.
Tourism Minister also emphasized the expansion of facilities in Prayagraj, including healthcare, transportation, and enhanced safety measures for women. These developments ensure the city can accommodate the needs of millions of devotees visiting Mahakumbh.
The drone show, featuring 2,500 drones emitting blue lights and forming religious symbols, has become the highlight of Mahakumbh 2025. Spectators described the breathtaking display as an unforgettable moment, symbolizing the perfect blend of spirituality and innovation.
