Irregularities Detected in Paddy Procurement at Support Price; Strict Action Taken

A case of irregularities in paddy procurement at the support price has come to light in Bilaspur district. Acting swiftly, a joint team has canceled the token for 82.20 quintals of paddy and removed the registered farmer’s paddy acreage from the Farmer Portal.

As per the Collector’s directives, strict monitoring is being conducted at paddy procurement centers in Bilaspur district to prevent malpractice involving middlemen and brokers.

The District Food Officer reported that an unannounced inspection was carried out today by the Naib Tehsildar at the Mahmand Paddy Procurement Center in Bilaspur Tehsil. During the inspection, it was found that the paddy corresponding to a token issued for 82.20 quintals under the Service Cooperative Society, Mahmand, was not available on-site. Consequently, the joint team immediately canceled the token and had the farmer surrender the allocated acreage.
