All Government Buildings in the State to be Electrified Using Solar Energy Within the Stipulated Timeframe – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar
Mumbai : In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal and the guidelines issued under the ‘PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana’, the target has been set to electrify all government buildings across states using solar energy by December 15, 2025. Accordingly, the electrification of all government buildings in Maharashtra through solar power is a crucial initiative under the state government’s 100-day program. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Finance & Planning Ajit Pawar has directed that this task be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
A review meeting on the solar electrification of government buildings was held today in the committee room of the Ministry, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
During the meeting, Deputy CM Pawar stated that 1,157 government buildings in the state have already been equipped with solar rooftop projects. However, he emphasized that the remaining 332 government buildings must be urgently electrified with solar power. He announced that progress reviews would be conducted every three months. He also instructed the MahaUrja department to ensure that the electric meter is activated on the same day the solar panels are installed. Additionally, he stressed that the execution of this scheme must be of the highest quality and standard.
During the meeting, a review of the ongoing solar projects in Pune district government buildings was conducted by the District Planning Department. Deputy CM Pawar, who is also the Guardian Minister of Pune District, directed the District Planning Committee to immediately allocate funds for pending projects.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Rajagopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Planning Department; Omprakash Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department; Abha Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department & Director General of MahaUrja; Dr. Trigun Kulkarni, Additional Director General of MahaUrja; Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi (via video conferencing), and senior officials from the Energy and Finance Departments.
