All-Party Meeting Concludes in Rajasthan Assembly – Speaker Urges Cooperation for Smooth House Proceedings
Jaipur – Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani emphasized that the state legislature represents eight crore citizens and that its proceedings are closely watched by the public. He urged elected representatives to uphold decorum and align their conduct with public expectations. Stating that the House operates based on rules, traditions, and protocols, he called on all political parties to ensure peaceful proceedings and engage in meaningful debates within the allotted time.
The third session of the 16th Rajasthan Assembly is set to begin on Friday, January 31. Ahead of this, an all-party meeting was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Wednesday.
Modernization and Efficient Functioning of the Assembly
Speaker Devnani announced that the 16th Rajasthan Assembly has been modernized, with the introduction of tablets under the ‘One Nation, One Application’ initiative. The meeting saw unanimous agreement that discussions, including the Governor’s Address, should proceed peacefully and without disruptions.
He urged members to maintain decorum, avoid disrupting the House, and adhere to speaking time limits. Stressing the importance of smooth and extended legislative sessions, he called on all parties to adopt a constructive approach and take shared responsibility for efficient governance.
90% of Questions Answered Before Session Begins
Speaker Devnani highlighted that 90% of the questions submitted for discussion in the Assembly had already been answered, a positive indicator of administrative efficiency. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Leader of Opposition, and other members praised this effort, expressing confidence that the remaining responses would be provided soon.
Fair Debate and Equal Opportunity to Speak
The Speaker assured that adequate time would be allotted to all parties for discussion. Both ruling and opposition party chief whips will be required to submit the list of speakers in advance, ensuring an organized and time-bound debate. He urged party leaders to ensure their members adhere to time limits and maintain dignity while raising issues.
Focus on Public Interest Issues
Speaker Devnani reiterated that the Assembly is a sacred platform for discussing public concerns and urged all members to uphold its dignity. He assured that the Opposition will be given due time to present its viewpoints and called on the state government to take their concerns seriously.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that both ruling and opposition members share a common goal of representing the public interest. He affirmed that the government will take legislators’ concerns seriously and work towards resolving them, noting that constructive criticism fosters improved governance.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel commended the historic initiative of Speaker Devnani, stating that this all-party meeting will have far-reaching positive impacts on Assembly proceedings. He expressed gratitude to the leaders from both ruling and opposition parties for their participation. Key attendees included Chief Government Whip Jogeshwar Garg, Opposition Chief Whip Rafiq Khan, BSP’s Manoj Kumar, and RLD’s Dr. Subhash Garg.
