Raipur : In view of the upcoming urban body and three-tier panchayat elections, authorities are intensifying their crackdown on illegal liquor trade across the state. To prevent the smuggling of liquor from neighboring states, teams from the Excise Department and police are maintaining strict surveillance in border areas. Acting on the directives of Excise Commissioner and Secretary R. Based on intelligence inputs, the Excise Circle Bilaigarh team raided four locations in the forests of Charpali Khaparkhol village, leading to the seizure of 300 liters of illicit mahua liquor, stored in six plastic containers of 50 liters each. Additionally, 3,600 kilograms of mahua lahan, a key ingredient used in liquor production, was recovered and destroyed on-site as per legal protocols.

The raiding team comprised Excise Sub-Inspector Vipin Pathak, Head Constable Fagulal Tandon, Constable Dhaneshwar Magar, and Security Guard Lochan Sahu. Authorities also discovered three active liquor distilleries and various equipment used for manufacturing illicit liquor.
