Mumbai’s Collective Redevelopment to Fulfill Citizens’ Dream of Spacious Homes – Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Inspection of Six Redevelopment Projects in Prabhadevi

Mumbai : Owning a beautiful and spacious home is a dream for everyone, and Mumbaikars are no exception. Due to housing issues, many residents have been forced to move outside the city. However, the government is committed to bringing them back by fulfilling their dream of spacious homes through collective redevelopment, assured Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today.

Many developers have abandoned projects after acquiring buildings, failing to provide rent to the residents. Deputy CM Shinde warned that such developers will be removed. He also stated that if necessary, laws and regulations will be amended to provide affordable and spacious housing for common citizens. Discussions will be held with CM Devendra Fadnavis, and necessary decisions will be taken to accelerate stalled redevelopment projects through collective redevelopment. A similar initiative has already started in Thane, and all obstacles hindering collective redevelopment will be addressed.

The SRA, MHADA, MIDC, MMRDA, CIDCO, and BMC will work in coordination to implement the collective redevelopment plan. The government is committed to providing spacious homes for the common Mumbaikar, ensuring access to basic amenities such as gardens, healthcare facilities, and open spaces. Additionally, the government is set to introduce a new housing policy, focusing on affordable homes and rental housing through MHADA, benefiting senior citizens, students, working women, and mill workers, Shinde added.

A development plan for Shri Siddhivinayak Temple will also be implemented with an allocation of ₹500 crore, ensuring better facilities for devotees and easing any inconveniences they currently face.

Deputy CM Shinde began his day with a visit to Shri Siddhivinayak Temple, followed by an inspection of six group redevelopment projects in Prabhadevi. Later, he presided over a review meeting at Swatantryaveer Savarkar Hall, Shivaji Park, Dadar, to discuss pending redevelopment projects in Dadar, Mahim, and Prabhadevi. The event was attended by Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust Chairman Sada Sarvankar, Vice Chairman Mr. Jaiswal, SRA’s Milind Shambharkar, Mr. Kalyankar, as well as public representatives. Chairman Sarvankar delivered the opening remarks, and a large number of residents from Prabhadevi, Mahim, and Dadar participated in the meeting.
