Kejriwal Claims Delhi Families Save ₹35,000 Monthly Under AAP Rule
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched AAP’s ‘Budget’ letter campaign, asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s welfare schemes provide significant financial relief to Delhi families. He claimed that existing initiatives save households ₹25,000 every month, while newly announced schemes would add another ₹10,000 in savings.
“Budgets usually lead to inflation, making life difficult for the common man. People should assess how AAP’s policies impact their household expenses. With our existing benefits, families already save ₹25,000 each month. Our upcoming schemes will add another ₹10,000 in savings. Pressing the ‘broom’ button (AAP’s election symbol) will ensure ₹35,000 in monthly savings, whereas voting for BJP will cost them the same amount instead,” Kejriwal stated at a press conference.
Major Savings Under AAP’s Schemes
Highlighting the various welfare measures implemented by his government, Kejriwal provided a breakdown of the savings Delhiites enjoy:
- Free Electricity: ₹4,000-5,000 per month
- Free Water: ₹2,500 per month
- Free Bus Travel: ₹2,500 per month
- Free Education: ₹10,000 per month
- Free Healthcare (Mohalla Clinics & Hospitals): ₹5,000 per month
He accused the BJP of planning to discontinue these schemes if elected. “The BJP has openly declared that they will scrap free education, mohalla clinics, and free bus travel if they come to power,” he alleged.
New Schemes to Add More Benefits
Kejriwal also announced new schemes aimed at further reducing financial burdens on Delhi families. These include:
- ₹2,100 monthly subsidy for women
- Free bus travel for students
- Free medical treatment for senior citizens
“These initiatives will add another ₹8,000-10,000 to household savings,” he claimed.
Citywide Awareness Campaign
As part of the ‘Budget’ letter campaign, AAP workers will visit homes across Delhi to fill out ‘Bachat Patra’ (Savings Certificates), informing residents about the financial benefits they receive under AAP’s governance.
Delhi’s Water Crisis Averted
Kejriwal also congratulated Delhiites for their “struggle” in preventing a water crisis due to contaminated supply. He claimed that the ammonia level in the water had significantly dropped from 7 ppm to 2 ppm, preventing a major crisis.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Congratulations to the people of Delhi! Our efforts have borne fruit. The poisonous water coming into Delhi has stopped. If we had not raised our voices, half of Delhi’s population would have been left without water. We saved Delhi from a severe water crisis.”
Kejriwal’s Allegations Against Haryana CM
Kejriwal also wrote to the Election Commission, making serious allegations against Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He demanded that a criminal case be registered against Saini, accusing him of allowing ‘poisonous’ water from the Yamuna to flow into Delhi.
