BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Slams AAP After Casting Vote in Delhi Polls

New Delhi : BJP MP Manoj Tiwari cast his vote at a polling booth in Yamuna Vihar on Wednesday during the Delhi Assembly elections. He strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of misgoverning the capital.

“AAP has made Delhi sick. They have looted Delhi. Now, it’s time for change. We will work, and the people of Delhi will give us a chance,” Tiwari told ANI after voting. He further urged Delhiites to step out and vote in large numbers. “We are not distributing money or liquor. People must come out of their homes and vote as much as possible,” he added.

Dushyant Gautam, BJP’s candidate from Karol Bagh, echoed similar sentiments after casting his vote. “People want change. They have witnessed the success of double-engine governments. Delhi, the heart of the nation, is on a ventilator under the AAP government. People now realize that Arvind Kejriwal only makes false promises and does nothing. They want a BJP government this time,” he said.

After a slow start in the morning, the single-phase Delhi Assembly election recorded a voter turnout of 19.95% by 11 AM, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Among the city’s districts, North East Delhi recorded the highest polling at 24.87%, followed by Shahdara at 23.30%. Meanwhile, Central Delhi saw the lowest turnout at 16.46%.

By 11 AM, voter turnout across other districts stood as follows:

  • South West Delhi: 21.90%
  • New Delhi: 16.80%
  • East Delhi: 20.03%
  • North Delhi: 18.63%
  • North West Delhi: 19.75%
  • South Delhi: 19.75%
  • South East Delhi: 19.66%
  • West Delhi: 17.67%

Meanwhile, the by-election in the Milkipur Assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 29.86%, while Tamil Nadu’s Erode (East) constituency saw 26.03% polling by 11 AM.

Polling began at 7 AM under tight security across 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi and two seats in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

AAP Leaders Defend Party’s Track Record

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, responded to BJP’s criticism, stating that the elections were more than just a political contest. “This is not an ordinary election. It is a crusade—a battle between good and evil, between development and hooliganism. Wherever we go, the people of Delhi stand with progress. They do not want lawlessness,” she asserted.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha also expressed confidence in his party’s prospects. “The people of Delhi will recognize AAP’s contributions in improving education, healthcare, and essential services like electricity and water. We have worked with truth and honesty, and that will be reflected in the results,” he said.

With Delhi witnessing an intense electoral battle, all eyes are now on the final voter turnout and the subsequent results. The political fate of the national capital will be decided in the coming days.
