Focus on Power Distribution Reforms Along with Renewable Energy Development – Minister of State for Energy Meghna Sakore-Bordikar
Mumbai : Minister of State for Energy, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, has directed that special emphasis be placed on the development of renewable energy sources, green energy projects, and improvements in power generation in the state. She made these remarks during a review meeting of the Energy Department held at HSBC Fort, Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Radhakrishnan B, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahagenco, along with Directors Sanjay Marudkar, Abhay Harane, Balasaheb Thite, and Executive Directors Rajesh Patil, Pankaj Nagdevate, and Nitin Chandurkar.
Minister Sakore-Bordikar emphasized the need to adopt new technologies to bring reforms in the energy sector. She instructed officials to increase the use of solar and wind energy to accelerate the production of pollution-free energy. Additionally, she stressed the importance of ensuring quality power supply for agriculture, industry, trade, and citizens.
A comprehensive review of various energy projects, power generation systems, and electricity demand in the state was conducted during the meeting.
Discussions covered power generation, storage, and distribution infrastructure, along with new projects, solar and wind energy development schemes, and electricity supply requirements for industrial zones.
Reports on power production capacity, demand-supply gaps, load management policies, and progress of new projects were presented. Measures required to ensure the timely completion of pending power projects were also discussed in detail.
