TN Govt to Cover Medical Costs for Pregnant Woman Pushed Off Train – CM Stalin

Vellore District, V.V. Kuppam, Near Seetharamanpet – Tamil Nadu Government to Bear Full Medical Expenses for the Injured Pregnant Woman Thrown Off a Moving Train – Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru. M.K. Stalin’s Announcement

In Tiruppur district, a four-month pregnant woman was traveling to her native place on February 6, 2025, by the Coimbatore–Tirupati Express. While boarding the train at Valarpet railway station, Veeraraj, a resident of V.V. Kuppam, Pooncholai village, Chinna Nadu, attempted to sexually harass her. When she resisted, he attacked her and pushed her off the moving train near Seetharamanpet in V.V. Kuppam, Vellore district, causing her severe injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on February 8, 2025, despite medical treatment, which is deeply distressing and shocking.

Furthermore, the injured woman was initially admitted to Vellore Government Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Ranipet for advanced treatment. The Tamil Nadu government will bear the full medical expenses incurred at the private hospital.

The accused, Veeraraj, has been arrested immediately.

Expressing deep condolences to the victim’s family and relatives, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has also announced financial assistance of ₹3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
