Social Welfare Dept’s initiative helps 95 elderly take holy dip in Sangam
Mahakumbh Nagar : The Yogi government is prioritizing the safety, health, and dignity of every section of society at the ongoing Mahakumbh. As part of this initiative, the Social Welfare Department facilitated a holy dip for 95 destitute elderly individuals on Tuesday.
These senior citizens reside in old age homes across Deoria, Bahraich, Amroha, and Bijnor districts. The departmental officials arranged transportation for them, bringing them to the temporary ashram set up by the Social Welfare Department in the Kumbh area by bus.
For the first time, the Social Welfare Department has set up a temporary ashram with a capacity of 100 beds in the Mahakumbh area, exclusively for senior citizens. The ashram provides free food, accommodation, and healthcare services for the elderly. A team of doctors has also been stationed at the camp to conduct regular health checkups for the elderly.
The daily routine at the ashram begins with yoga and meditation sessions, ensuring the elderly maintain their mental and physical well-being. In the evenings, Bhajan-Kirtan sessions are organized, offering them spiritual peace and a sense of devotion.
Through this initiative, the Social Welfare Department has given these senior citizens an opportunity to participate in the Mahakumbh with dignity and faith. The move has set an example of social harmony and spirit of service.
