Implement Government Schemes with Quality – Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Nagpur – The Central Government has launched various welfare schemes for the public, and these must be implemented effectively and with quality, directed Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to the concerned district authorities today.

A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was held under the chairmanship of Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Planning Bhavan conference hall in Nagpur. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ashish Jaiswal, MP Shyamkumar Barve, MLAs Krishna Khopde, Kripal Tumane, Charansingh Thakur, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner Aachal Goyal, CEO of Zilla Parishad Vinayak Mahamuni, and other DISHA committee members. Minister Gadkari reviewed the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Nagpur district.

He assessed the progress of schemes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition Program, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, AMRUT 1 and 2, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Water and Waste Management Projects, PM SVANidhi Scheme, PM Tribal Village Development Scheme, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and Ayushman Bharat. He emphasized that schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Road Development Projects, and AMRUT directly benefit the common people. He also issued strict instructions to take action against officials and contractors failing to implement these schemes efficiently.

Addressing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Gadkari stressed that houses must be allotted to the poor, but at the same time, illegal occupants should be evicted under police protection. He also directed officials to identify and penalize ineligible beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme.

During the meeting, he also reviewed the rural waste management program and suggested exploring the possibility of using collected waste in road construction or converting it into compost fertilizer. Officials informed him that 137 rural water supply projects are currently underway, to which he advised that water sources must be confirmed before laying pipelines.

Minister Gadkari also highlighted the prevalence of sickle cell anemia and thalassemia among tribal and economically weaker communities in eastern Vidarbha. He stated that efforts are being made to establish a treatment facility for these diseases at AIIMS Nagpur, and he directed the district administration to ensure proper implementation.

Regarding road accident victims, Gadkari emphasized that any injured person will receive free treatment at any hospital under a scheme introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He urged officials to spread awareness about this initiative to reach as many people as possible.
