“5.0 Magnitude Quake in Myanmar Shakes Bangladesh”
A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar on Sunday afternoon, jolting Dhaka and adjoining areas in Bangladesh. The tremors were felt in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and some other parts of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the earthquake struck at 3:14:49 pm (Indian time) and lasted for a few seconds. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar, about 441 km south-southeast of Dhaka.
No reports of loss of property or life have been reported from anywhere in Bangladesh so far.
Earlier on Wednesday, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the same area. That quake was also felt across a large area of Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Chattogram.
