TN Govt Distributes 2,500 Housing Patta Certificates in Chennai
Honorable Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin
participated in a government event in Chennai’s Shenoy Nagar, where he distributed housing land titles to 2,500 beneficiaries.
Under the directive of Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru. M.K. Stalin, steps have been taken to address the challenges faced by the public in obtaining housing land titles in Chennai and its suburban areas. Following this, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin initiated a transparent land allocation process.
As part of a special implementation scheme, an order issued on March 1, 2024, under the leadership of the Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, led to the formation of a High-Level State Committee comprising 18 members, including all ministers. This committee convened on June 13, 2024, and December 9, 2024, and, based on expert recommendations, facilitated the allocation of:
- 2,648 plots under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board,
- 3,909 plots under the Tamil Nadu Housing Board,
- 58,979 plots under the Urban Land Planning Scheme,
- 626 plots under the Regularization Scheme.
Additionally, 19,114 plots in Melamangalam, Alandur, Tiruvottiyur, Maduravoyal, and Mathur were converted from agricultural to residential use. 4,112 plots from private and government surplus lands were reclassified. Overall, 89,388 plots were successfully allocated.
From June to December 2024, 68,074 plots were regularized, with an additional 21,314 plots expected to be completed from January 2025 onwards.
At today’s event (February 20, 2025), Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin distributed 2,500 housing land titles in Chennai’s Shenoy Nagar at Wings Convention Center.
During the event, he emphasized the Dravidian Model Government’s commitment to ensuring housing for all. He highlighted past initiatives under former Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi, including providing subsidized rice to eliminate hunger and free school uniforms to support education. Following this legacy, the government is now addressing the housing needs of marginalized communities.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, a special committee was formed to streamline land title distribution. As a result, 89,400 plots have been allocated in Chennai and surrounding areas. Additionally, the government has committed to distributing 86,000 housing plots across urban Tamil Nadu within the next six months.
By implementing these schemes, the Dravidian Model Government reaffirms its dedication to social justice and inclusive development, ensuring that every citizen has access to food, clothing, and shelter.
