Women’s safety must be prioritised at all Shiva temples, from urban centres to rural areas: CM

Gorakhpur : Chairing a meeting with officials at the Gorakhnath Temple on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significance of Mahashivratri as a sacred occasion dedicated to the worship of Devadhidev Mahadev. Arriving a day ahead ahead of Mahashivratri, he directed officials to prioritize safety, convenience, and cleanliness during the holy festival.

He emphasized that visitors should feel secure and face no difficulties at temples, with strict measures in place to maintain cleanliness in and around all Shiva temples.

He noted that a massive influx of devotees gathers at Shiva temples across villages and cities, making it imperative to ensure their safety, comfort, and seamless experience while respecting their faith.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of traffic management around major Shiva temples. He instructed police officials to deploy sufficient personnel and traffic officers to ensure security and smooth movement.

Emphasizing women’s safety, he directed special vigilance in temples across both urban and rural areas.

Addressing concerns about temporary shops near Shiva temples during Mahashivratri, CM Yogi instructed that while business activities should not be disrupted, vendors must be positioned reasonably to prevent any inconvenience to devotees.

To uphold cleanliness, the Chief Minister assigned clear responsibilities to the Municipal Corporation to oversee sanitation around Shiva temples in Gorakhpur city and Nagar Panchayats to maintain cleanliness in towns, and Gram Panchayats to ensure clean temple surroundings in villages.

CM Yogi also reviewed ongoing development projects and law and order during the meeting. He directed officials to complete all under-construction projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards.

On this occasion, ADG Dr KS Pratap, Divisional Commissioner Anil Dhingra, DIG Anand Kulkarni, District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Gaurav Grover, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal, GIDA CEO Anuj Malik, GDA Vice President Anand Vardhan etc. were present.
