Over 300 fire engines carry holy Triveni water to various districts across the state

Prayagraj : Mahakumbh 2025 set a historic record as over 66 crore devotees took a holy dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. To uphold the faith and religious sentiments of those unable to attend, the Yogi government has introduced a unique initiative, ensuring that devotees across Uttar Pradesh can still receive the spiritual blessings of Triveni’s holy waters.

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives, the Fire and Emergency Services Department has been entrusted with executing this initiative.

In an unprecedented move, the Yogi government also extended the sanctity of Mahakumbh beyond Prayagraj, offering over 90,000 prison inmates across Uttar Pradesh’s jails the opportunity to perform a ritual bath with Triveni water within prison premises. This marks the first time in history that a government has taken such a step to honor the religious beliefs of incarcerated individuals.

Now, the initiative has been expanded to include those who were unable to travel to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh. The Fire and Emergency Services Department officially launched the program on Friday, ensuring that the sacred Triveni water reaches devotees across the state, allowing them to partake in this auspicious ritual and seek divine blessings.

Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma mentioned that following government orders, fire engines from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh that were brought to Mahakumbh have been emptied of their regular water and refilled with sacred Triveni water from the Sangam. These vehicles have now been dispatched to various districts, ensuring that people who could not attend Mahakumbh due to various reasons still get a chance to perform a ritual bath with the holy water.

The Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department has launched this special initiative to distribute Sangam water across the state. CM Yogi Adityanath, during his visit to Prayagraj on Thursday, directed officials to send the sacred water to those who missed Mahakumbh. Acting on his instructions, the department has now dispatched fire engines filled with Triveni water to all districts.

According to the Chief Fire Officer, over 300 fire engines were deployed at Mahakumbh from various districts of Uttar Pradesh. While each fire tender has a different water capacity, most can hold around 5,000 liters of water. As a result, more than 500,000 liters of sacred Sangam water is being transported across the state. The district administration, in coordination with local representatives, will ensure that the holy water reaches people who were unable to visit Mahakumbh, allowing them to experience its spiritual significance from their hometowns.
