UD&PA Minister Inspects Ongoing Projects Under Aizawl Smart City Ltd.
Aizawl – Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Minister Pu K. Sapdanga visited eight ongoing projects under Aizawl Smart City Ltd. today. The sites inspected by the Minister included High Field Multipurpose Ground, Dawrpui Aizawl City Centre, Zemabawk Playground, Zuangtui Indoor Stadium, Durtlang Playground, Chaltlang Multipurpose Sports Hall, Chaltlang Tourist Lodge, and Hlimen Playground. During his visit, the Minister met with contractors, urging them to ensure quality work and to expedite the completion of pending tasks.

The High Field Multipurpose Ground in Zarkawta is being constructed at a cost of ₹16.06 crore by M/s Lushai Engineers, with work commencing in February 2023. The project is 71% complete, and its expected completion date is December 2025. The multipurpose ground will feature a football field (73m x 31m), an open gym, a children’s play area, a cycling track, an elevated jogging track, a cricket practice pitch, and parking facilities for 80 four-wheelers and 47 two-wheelers.
The Aizawl New Market (City Centre) in Dawrpui is being developed at a cost of ₹40.35 crore by M/s Lushai Engineers, with work starting in October 2022. Currently 59% complete, it is scheduled for completion by December 2026. The City Centre will accommodate 1,102 shops, lifts for goods and passengers, cold storage, CCTV surveillance, ATMs, a food court, offices, a conference room, and parking for 31 four-wheelers and 79 two-wheelers.

The Zemabawk Playground is being built at a cost of ₹24.94 crore by M/s Northeast Consultancy Firm Ltd., with work starting in November 2022. Currently 79% complete, it is expected to be finished by June 2025. The playground, measuring 100m x 60m, will have artificial turf, a 700-seat gallery, and parking for 41 four-wheelers and 65 two-wheelers.
The Zuangtui Indoor Stadium, being developed at ₹14.60 crore by F. Lalliansanga, Aizawl Venglai, began construction in June 2022. The project is 99% complete, and the stadium is expected to be operational by March 2025. It will have six badminton courts, a gym, dormitories for male and female athletes (with attached washrooms), locker rooms, a first aid room, a coach’s room, and a yoga room.
On the ground floor, the stadium will feature a ticket counter, administration room, cafeteria, pantry, pump room, and a 2,000-litre water storage tank.
The Durtlang Playground, being developed at ₹17.88 crore by M/s Biakliana & Sons, Mission Veng, started in November 2022 and is currently 89% complete, with an expected completion in October 2025. The 110m x 68m ground will have artificial turf, a 1,257-seat gallery (Block A – 1,033 seats, Block B – 224 seats), staff rooms, a sports equipment store, support staff rooms, a coach’s room, two gyms, player washrooms, dressing rooms, a conference hall, an office, a media lounge, a VIP lounge, and parking for 47 four-wheelers and 22 two-wheelers.
The Chaltlang Multipurpose Sports Hall, under construction at a cost of ₹13.52 crore by M/s H. Sanga & Sons, Chanmari, started in November 2022 and is 72% complete, with an expected completion in November 2025. The hall will feature a basketball-cum-volleyball court, a 216-seat gallery, a boxing ring, two table tennis boards, dormitories for male and female athletes, a conference hall, and parking for 10 four-wheelers and 108 two-wheelers.
The Chaltlang Tourist Lodge renovation is being carried out at a cost of ₹18.12 crore by M/s Allied Concern, Dawrpui, Aizawl, starting in February 2023. The project is 78% complete, and its expected completion date is October 2025. The lodge will include a 339-seat auditorium, a restaurant, staff quarters (Type III – 1, Type II – 1, Type I – 6), and parking for 29 four-wheelers and 32 two-wheelers.
The Hlimen Playground, being developed at ₹6.59 crore by M/s Lalhming Infrastructure & Construction Pvt. Ltd., started in April 2022 and is 92% complete, with an expected completion in October 2025. The 100m x 50m playground will have a 696-seat gallery, an office, a ticket counter, a snack counter, a VIP lounge, a support staff room, sports equipment storage, locker rooms, team dressing rooms, a pantry, male and female washrooms, and parking for 14 four-wheelers and 21 two-wheelers.
The UD&PA Minister was accompanied by Aizawl Smart City Ltd. CEO Pu CC Lalchhuangkima, UD&PA Joint Secretary Pi Zarzokimi, and senior officials from Aizawl Smart City Ltd. and the UD&PA Secretariat.
