CM A Revanth Reddy Vows Transparent Governance, Welfare, and Development for Telangana
The Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, made it clear that he would work tirelessly for the development of Telangana by taking suggestions and advice from public representatives and earning the people’s trust. He assured that the benefits of retired employees would be paid 100% within a year based on their seniority. He emphasized that the government is moving forward with a focus on welfare, development, and transparent governance and requested the cooperation of both public representatives and employees.
During the budget sessions, the Chief Minister provided a detailed response in the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly on the discussions held over the past two days regarding the Governor’s speech. He assured that the government would certainly accept reasonable suggestions and emphasized that the administration is accountable to the people with complete transparency by presenting the facts.
“The issues included in the Governor’s speech are based on the programs implemented by the government over the past 15 months. We will reflect the suggestions and advice given in the Assembly on the Governor’s speech in the budget. We have no intention of running the government based on falsehoods. The sole objective of the government is the welfare of the people,” he asserted.
He stated that the government is thinking about making Telangana a globally competitive state, attracting investments, ensuring maximum welfare and development, and establishing transparent governance. He mentioned that the government is working to disclose the state’s debts and revenue details while exploring all possible avenues to increase revenue sources.
He explained the commitment with which the SC classification issue was addressed as per the Supreme Court’s orders. He comprehensively detailed the necessity and process of the BC caste census and emphasized that it was conducted with sincerity to lay the foundation for providing 42% reservations for BCs. He mentioned the effort to introduce a BC Sub-Plan.
With the goal of supporting agricultural families, the government waived ₹2 lakh in farm loans, aiming to free farmers from debt. He elaborated on schemes such as Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Aathmeeya Bharosa, crop procurement, bonus for fine rice, the establishment of a Rythu Commission, and other initiatives supporting farmers. He expressed the government’s willingness to discuss its actions in the agricultural sector.
He explained the efforts made to secure Telangana’s rightful share of water resources after the state’s bifurcation. He detailed the attempts and struggles to obtain Telangana’s fair share of water and how the previous government failed in securing allocations over the past decade, explaining project-wise details.
The Chief Minister comprehensively elaborated on initiatives undertaken for women’s empowerment. He also highlighted the state of the education sector over the past decade and revealed the policy decisions taken by the government over the past 15 months to improve it. He discussed the revival efforts for universities that had been weakened over the past ten years.
He pointed out how the lack of skill development among students had led to unemployment and fewer job opportunities. To address this, he explained the establishment of Young India Skill University, a dedicated university for sports development, agreements with Australia and South Korea for sports development, and the modernization of traditional ITIs into ATCs by integrating advanced technology.
Regarding job recruitment, he mentioned that the Public Service Commission’s reputation had declined over the past decade and outlined the measures taken to restore its credibility. He explained how the government addressed the issues caused by paper leaks and conducted recruitment exams. He stated that Telangana set a record by filling over 57,000 jobs within a year, a feat unmatched by any other Indian state. He cited statistics showing a decline in Telangana’s unemployment rate.
He pointed out that negligence in the education sector over the past decade had led to a drop in student enrollment in government schools. To rectify this, the government conducted a DSC recruitment to fill 11,000 teacher posts, implemented promotions, facilitated transfers, and initiated various reforms. He suggested discussing school improvement measures in the legislature to take necessary actions.
He affirmed that the state maintains good relations with the central government and disclosed details of his meetings with the Prime Minister and various Union Ministers in Delhi regarding state projects and funding. He listed the ministers he met and the projects for which he sought assistance.
The Chief Minister announced a ₹20 crore allocation from special funds for the development of the historic Lal Darwaza Temple in Hyderabad. He mentioned the foundation stone laid for the Osmania Hospital redevelopment and expressed commitment to securing airports for Adilabad, Ramagundam, and Nizamabad, similar to the success in obtaining an airport for Warangal.
He recalled that in 2022, budget sessions were initiated without a Governor’s speech, and in 2023, the then-government was forced to permit the Governor’s address due to judicial intervention. He stressed that such actions are inappropriate in a democracy.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with constitutional institutions such as the central government, the Governor, the judiciary, and the Election Commission. He urged that states should respect and collaborate with these institutions. Concluding the legislative assembly sessions held with democratic values, the Chief Minister extended special thanks to all members for their suggestions and advice.
