Yogi govt extends financial aid to 8 lakh families through NFBS

Lucknow : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has been steadfast in providing financial assistance to families who have lost their primary earners. Through the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), financial assistance of ₹30,000 is provided to economically weaker families across the state. Over the past eight years, the Yogi government has spent more than ₹2,310 crore, benefiting approximately 8 lakh families.

Aligned with the Central Government’s public welfare initiatives, the Yogi administration remains committed to ensuring the well-being of every section of society. The NFBS has emerged as a lifeline for families facing economic instability, covering rural and urban households.

To ensure that assistance reaches those in need without delay, the Social Welfare Department has streamlined the application and verification process. Under the scheme, the deceased family head must have been between 18 to 60 years old at the time of death, and the family’s annual income should not exceed ₹46,080 in rural areas and ₹56,460 in urban areas.

Additionally, the application must be submitted within one year of death. Once approved, the financial aid is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) within 30 days.

The Yogi government introduced an online application, approval, and fund disbursement process on August 1, 2023. This digital transformation has further expedited the scheme’s implementation, ensuring quick financial relief. According to the Social Welfare Department, the government has spent ₹2,310.837 crore on 770,279 families over the last eight years, reinforcing its commitment to social security.

This initiative’s primary objective is to prevent financial insecurity among poor families after they lose their primary breadwinner. When the head of the family passes, meeting daily needs often becomes a struggle, and in such situations, the National Family Benefit Scheme serves as a crucial support system. The scheme has helped thousands of families regain stability and rebuild their lives by providing immediate financial assistance.

With a proactive approach to welfare, the Yogi government has positioned itself as a guardian for the underprivileged, ensuring that no family is left struggling due to economichardships. The administration remains focused on expanding the reach of welfare schemes, further strengthening the social security net for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
