German Delegation Visits Maharashtra; Explores State’s Skill Development Institutions
Mumbai : The Maharashtra government has signed an agreement with the German state of Baden-Württemberg to provide skilled workforce opportunities. Under this agreement, various employment opportunities will be available in Baden-Württemberg, with a strong emphasis on job-oriented training, announced Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
A delegation of education experts from Baden-Württemberg is on a visit to Maharashtra from March 16 to 22. During their visit to the State Innovation Society, Minister Lodha highlighted the collaboration. The delegation was led by Konrad Neffu and included Florian Lepoerd, Jochen Mann, Andreas Hornar, and Bete Wagner. Also present at the event were Manisha Verma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Skill Development Department; Ranjit Singh Deol, Principal Secretary of the Education Department; Rahul Rekhawar, Director of the State Council for Educational Research and Training; Nitin Patil, Commissioner of the Skill Development Department; Madhavi Sardeshmukh, Director of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training; and Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra Ratan Tata Skill University.
Minister Lodha stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is steering India towards becoming a global superpower, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis accelerating this vision. Through this agreement, the Maharashtra government aims to provide Marathi youth with golden opportunities for overseas employment. Along with job placements, a unique initiative has been launched to offer skill training and German language education. Given the global shortage of skilled manpower, efforts are being made to align training institutes in Maharashtra with the skill requirements of Germany, ensuring effective implementation of the agreement with Baden-Württemberg.

During the visit, discussions were held on the ongoing skill training programs in Maharashtra and the demand for skilled manpower in Germany.
Understanding Maharashtra’s Education System – Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma
The German delegation visited various skill development training institutes across Maharashtra, gaining insights into the state’s education system and workforce requirements. As part of their visit, they toured the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-based Devgiri Government Training Institute and the Agricultural Skill Development Center. Additionally, they interacted with faculty and students at the National Skill Development Center in Chunabhatti, Mumbai, and the Government Industrial Training Institutes in Pune, studying their curricula.
Delegation’s Objective: Understanding Maharashtra’s Skill Development Structure – Konrad Neffu
Konrad Neffu stated that the primary objective of the delegation is to understand Maharashtra’s skill development structure and education system. The team is visiting various vocational and industrial training institutes to gather insights into the state’s education sector.
During the visit, Manisha Verma provided an overview of Maharashtra’s skill development programs, while Rahul Rekhawar gave a presentation on the educational initiatives undertaken by the state’s education department.
