Massive Crackdown by Mining Department Against Illegal Mining: ₹70.37 Crore Fine Imposed, 3 FIRs Registered

The Mining Department carried out one of its largest surprise operations against illegal mining in Nagaur, imposing fines worth ₹70.37 crore and registering three FIRs in the respective police stations. Based on confidential information, Director of Mines, Shri Deepak Tanwar, discreetly formed multiple teams from Udaipur headquarters, dispatching them simultaneously to different locations. Notably, even the team members were unaware of their assigned locations in advance, ensuring the element of surprise, which led to a successful crackdown.

The state government has always maintained a strict stance against illegal mining activities, consistently instructing field officers to take decisive action against offenders.

Key Actions Taken:

  1. Shri Ram Chemicals – Illegal Limestone Mining (₹48.16 Crore Fine)
    • The special team conducted a surprise raid at Shri Ram Chemicals’ limestone mining lease no. 67/2001.
    • A crusher was found operating within the lease area, illegally using transport permits (Ravannas) to extract 3,32,177 tons of minerals.
    • A penalty of ₹48.16 crore was imposed.
  2. Illegal Mining Pit in Bhawanda (₹14.48 Crore Fine, FIR Registered)
    • A pit near Bhawanda was found with 19,900 tons of illegally extracted limestone.
    • Investigation revealed that the illegal mining was carried out by Shri Ramkishore Dator, whose house was just 5-15 meters away from the site.
    • A fine of ₹14.48 crore was imposed, and an FIR (No. 30/2025) was registered against Ramkishore Dator and landowner Shri Ramjeevan at Bhawanda police station.
  3. Gangwana Region – Shivam Lime Products (₹6.02 Crore Fine, Two FIRs Registered)
    • A raid at Shivam Lime Products, owned by Shri Sumer Singh Udawat, uncovered 550 tons of illegally stored limestone.
    • Upon further investigation, the two associated mining leases (No. 31/2002 & 30/2002) were found violating regulations:
      • Lease No. 31/2002: 16,632 tons of limestone illegally extracted outside lease boundaries₹2.41 crore fine.
      • Lease No. 30/2002: 24,884 tons of limestone extracted illegally₹3.61 crore fine.
    • Two FIRs were filed against Sumer Singh and Lalit Vyas in the local police station.
  4. Tadawas – Dheeraj Chemical Stone (₹1.64 Crore Fine)
    • 3,120 tons of illegal stone was found at M/s Dheeraj Chemical Stone, resulting in a ₹11.12 lakh fine.
    • Further inspection of their lease (No. 15/2004) revealed misuse of 42,613 tons of transport permits, leading to a ₹1.49 crore fine.
    • Lease No. 16/2004 was found misusing 1,092 tons of transport permits, attracting a ₹4.02 lakh fine.

The state government has instructed officials to continue strict enforcement against illegal mining activities. The Mining Department remains committed to curbing mineral theft and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
