Implement Development Plans with a 25-Year Vision – Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s Directive to Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation

Rapid Action on Proposals Through Direct Communication with Department Secretaries

Kolhapur : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation to formulate and implement development plans with a long-term vision of 20 to 25 years.

He was speaking at a review meeting held at the Municipal Corporation Hall, where he assessed various developmental projects. The meeting was attended by MLAs Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar, Rajesh Patil, Rahul Awade, former Textile Minister Prakash Awade, District Collector Amol Yedge, CEO of the District Council S. Karthikeyan, Municipal Commissioner Pallavi Patil, Additional Commissioner Sushma Kolhe-Shinde, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Rohit Tondale, and other officials. MP Dhairyasheel Mane joined the meeting via video conferencing.

Emphasizing sustainable development and high-quality execution, Ajit Pawar stated that the distribution of GST compensation grants will be decided in the Cabinet meeting, ensuring that Ichalkaranji and other municipal corporations receive the necessary funds.

During the meeting, he instructed Urban Development Department Secretary Govindraj over the phone to immediately approve the purchase of a fire-fighting vehicle for the Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation.

He also stressed the need for:

  • Quality beautification of Panchganga Ghats, recommending appointment of a skilled contractor and the use of RCC construction to prevent stone erosion.
  • Proper design of the Ichalkaranji entrance gate, considering the height of incoming vehicles.
  • Construction plans for the vegetable market and new buildings, keeping local traders and residents in mind.
  • Accelerated implementation of measures for drinking water and irrigation needs to ensure adequate supply for citizens and agriculture.
  • Improvements in health, education, internal roads, electricity supply, and sewage management.

To expedite solutions, Ajit Pawar directly communicated with department secretaries from the meeting, instructing them to take immediate action on relevant proposals.

During the meeting, MLAs Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar, Rahul Awade, and former Minister Prakash Awade urged the government to:

  • Distribute GST compensation grants to Ichalkaranji.
  • Ensure continuous flow in the Panchganga River to prevent water scarcity in Hatkanangale and Shirol talukas and curb pollution.
  • Provide funds under AMRUT for large pond rejuvenation and Katti Mula water supply project.
  • Expedite the release of pending disaster management funds.

District Collector and Municipal Administrator Amol Yedge and Commissioner Pallavi Patil presented a status report on ongoing municipal projects through a detailed presentation.
