Metro Carried 21.81 Crore Passengers In 2024-25:

Metro Railway has carried 21.81 crore passengers in the fiscal year 2024-25, which is 13.30% higher in comparison to 19.23 Crores carried in the fiscal year 2023-24. At present, Metro services are operational along the Blue Line, Green Line, Purple Line and Orange Line.

Out of these, Blue Line (Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash) of Metro Railway has carried 18.93 crore passengers in the recently concluded fiscal year 2024-25 in comparison to 17.94 crores in 2023 -2024, registering a rise of 5.51%.  

Green Line – 1 (Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V) has carried 1.41 crore passengers in FY 2024-25 in comparison to 1.22 Crores last FY 2023-24, registering a marginal growth of 15.57%.

On the other hand, Green Line-2 (Howrah Maidan to Esplanade) has carried 1.39 crore passengers in its maiden year of operation 2024-25 – a feat so achieved vide plying under the River Hooghly.

As services were streamlined, 1.76 lakh passengers have travelled in the Purple Line (Joka to Majerhat) in the last fiscal 2024 – 2025, in comparison to 1.34 crores in FY 2023-24, which demonstrates a rise of 31.34%.

Similarly, in its maiden year of services – 5.92 lakh passengers have travelled in the Orange Line (Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay) in the last fiscal.

General Manager Inspects Sections Of Orange Line:

Metro Railways is relentlessly striving to augment services in the Orange Line section enabling to introduce the much awaited services to NSCBI Airport, named as Jai Hind Bimanbandar. In the process, his goodself Mr. P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway inspected the Jai Hind Bimanbandar to Biswa Bangla Convention Centre Metro station stretch of Orange Line, accompanying several senior officers of Metro Railway and RVNL.

At the Jai Hind Bimanbandar station, Metro officials apprised him about the discreet details of the progress of work, with stressing on the impeccable planning of completing all the relevant pending works within the stipulated deadline.  

Later, Mr. Reddy inspected the under construction New Town Depot, Mother Wax Museum and Biswa Bangla Convention Centre Metro station of Orange Line. It is of omnipotent importance that all Metro Rail Commuters & Well Wishers are eagerly waiting for the August Day when services to the Kolkata’s only Airport becomes functional.
