Villages with MIDC Should Be Granted Industrial Township Status: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : Granting industrial township status to villages with MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) establishments will give a greater boost to the development of these areas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the formulation of a policy to grant such status to eligible villages.
A review meeting of MIDC’s functioning was held under the chairmanship of CM Fadnavis. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Industry Minister Uday Samant, Principal Secretary to the CM Ashwini Bhide, Secretary Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Deputy CM’s office Asim Kumar Gupta, Secretary Naveen Sona, Industry Secretary Dr. P. Anbalagan, CEO P. Velarasu, and Joint CEO Vijay Rathod.
CM Fadnavis stated that granting industrial township status to MIDC villages will not only accelerate the development of those villages but also ensure rapid development of basic infrastructure and amenities in the region. There will be a focused improvement in water supply, roads, electricity, and other essential services.
He further mentioned that 63 MoUs were signed during the World Economic Forum 2025, out of which 47 are related to industries. Land allotment for these companies is currently underway. Notifications for land acquisition for new industrial zones have been issued, and 654 plots have been allotted through the e-tender process on the MahaTender portal.
Under the 100-day action plan, out of the target of 3,500 acres of industrial land to be allotted, 2,346 acres have already been distributed. The land acquisition target has been achieved at 110%. A 5 MLD wastewater treatment plant has been commissioned at Butibori, and applications related to industrial services, approvals, and grievances have also been addressed, it was informed during the meeting.
