Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav and Sanjay Sharma Attend 13th Annual District Conference of the Alwar Working Journalists’ Association – ‘One Nation, One Election will be a Historic Step’: Union Minister Yadav
Jaipur : Union Minister for Environment and Forests Shri Bhupender Yadav and Minister of State for Environment and Forests (Independent Charge) Shri Sanjay Sharma today attended the 13th Annual District Conference of the Alwar Working Journalists’ Association and a seminar on ‘One Nation, One Election’ held at the Police Investigation Building in Alwar.
Extending greetings to the journalists on the occasion, Union Minister Yadav said that journalism has always held a special place in a democracy as the fourth pillar. Journalists serve as the mirror of society, working tirelessly 24/7. He emphasized that journalism plays a significant role in completing the democratic framework.
He appreciated the initiative by the Alwar Working Journalists’ Association to organize a seminar on ‘One Nation, One Election’ as part of their annual celebrations, calling it a meaningful and timely effort. Minister Yadav stated that elections are a means, not the end in a democracy. He said that stability, continuity, and impartiality are essential for a mature democratic system, and the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative is a major step in this direction.
He also elaborated on the recommendations made by various committees on the topic, adding that frequent elections disrupt governance, administration, and the everyday lives of citizens due to the repeated imposition of the Model Code of Conduct.
He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is committed to eliminating poverty, which can only be achieved through political stability and policy continuity. He urged citizens to broaden the discussion on this crucial national issue.
Journalists Honored and ‘Aapki Kalam 2025’ Released
During the event, the Union Minister honored 18 senior journalists for their remarkable contributions to the field of journalism. He also released ‘Aapki Kalam 2025’, a publication focusing on tourism in Alwar.
Minister Yadav also highlighted initiatives by the state government for journalist welfare, stating that a new RJHS scheme (on the lines of RGHS) has been implemented for all accredited journalists. The rules for accreditation have also been simplified to make the process more accessible.
The event was attended by many distinguished individuals and members of the press.
