Encroachment on Drains Will Not Be Tolerated, Strict Action Will Be Taken: Shri Devanani

Assembly Speaker Lays Foundation for 1.25 km Long Drain; 7 Drains to be Constructed in Ajmer North at a Cost of ₹40 Crore to End Drainage Problems

Jaipur : Assembly Speaker Shri Vasudev Devanani stated that to resolve the waterlogging and drainage issues during the rainy season in Ajmer North, drains will be constructed at a cost of ₹40 crore. He emphasized that encroachments on drains will not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict action will be taken against violators.

On Sunday, Shri Vasudev Devanani inaugurated the construction of a 1.25-kilometer-long drain from CR Building, Chaurasiyawas Road to Vaishali Nagar. This drain will be built at a cost of ₹4.73 crore and will pass through Abhineta Nagar, Gandhinagar, Aravali Nagar, Gauri Nagar, Chaudhary Colony, and in front of the Press Club.

Shri Devanani said the city will be relieved of the problem of overflowing drains and waterlogging during the monsoon. A DPR is being prepared for an advanced drainage system. Additionally, around the Ana Sagar Lake, seven drains will be constructed at a cost of approximately ₹24 crore, along with more drains worth ₹16 crore. He stated that encroachments on drains obstruct the flow of water, leading to significant damage even from minor structures. The Supreme Court has also ruled that water outlets must remain encroachment-free. Encroachments on the Bandi River were removed, and the Seven Wonders were also demolished for this reason.

He noted that the city’s image is now transforming, with projects worth hundreds of crores approved in the last two annual budgets. These include an attractive entry plaza at the Jaipur-Ajmer entry point costing ₹10 crore, relocation of the roadways workshop to construct a multi-modal bus stand, IT Park, Ayurvedic University, and a sports stadium with a 40,000 seating capacity—many of which will soon become reality.

Shri Devanani said several tourist spots are being developed across the city to ensure benefits reach everyone. With collective effort, a clean, beautiful, and well-organized Smart Ajmer will be built that leaves a lasting impression on tourists. Ajmer is rapidly progressing on the path of development, with growth taking place across education, healthcare, infrastructure, and all other sectors.

Present on the occasion were Mayor Brajlata Hada, Councillors Shri Deependra Lalwani, Shri Virendra Walia, Shri Dharmendra Singh, Shri Vikram Singh Rathore, Ruby Jain, Shri Ramesh Chelani, Shri Jatved Soni, Shri Dayal Ram Sawasia, Shri Raju Dhawa, Shri Kishan Chelani, Shri Devesh Malu, and others.
