People-Centric Facilities to Be Established at All Mumbai Police Stations – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai Police Well-Equipped to Tackle the Challenge of Cybercrime

Mumbai : Curbing cybercrime and apprehending cybercriminals will be one of the biggest challenges of the future, and Mumbai Police are fully prepared to face it, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He also announced that all police stations in Mumbai are being upgraded with citizen-friendly and women-centric facilities, making them more accessible and people-oriented.

CM Fadnavis was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of several new initiatives of the Mumbai Police held at the Utkarsh Hall of Azad Maidan Police Station.

Highlighting Maharashtra’s leading position in controlling cybercrime, Fadnavis stated that Mumbai Police have demonstrated exceptional capability in this area. He shared that in one incident, the police successfully prevented a loss of ₹12 crore. To address future cybercrime challenges, three advanced cyber labs have been established, which were inaugurated during the event.

Noting the rise in sophisticated scams like “digital arrest”, where even well-educated individuals fall prey, he stressed the importance of public awareness. CM Fadnavis also commended actor Ayushmann Khurrana and producer Sahit Krishnan for supporting the police’s awareness campaigns.

The CM lauded the new criminal laws introduced by the Central Government, calling them truly Indian in nature. These laws, which emphasize crime reporting, evidence collection, and use of technology in investigations, will enable more effective crime control. He added that there has been a positive rise in reporting of crimes against women, which was earlier suppressed due to social pressures.

To support this change, Women and Child Help Desks have been established in police stations, ensuring that victims feel safe and unpressured while filing complaints.

He praised the new building of the Park Site Police Station and the renovated Utkarsh Hall at Azad Maidan, which has regained its historical grandeur. The CM mentioned that Mumbai Police have efficiently implemented the state’s 100-day action plan, significantly transforming the police force.

Instead of creating separate women’s police stations, the government has focused on appointing women officers in every police station, making policing more gender-sensitive and inclusive.

At the event, CM Fadnavis and Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam flagged off new motorcycles, interceptor vehicles, forensic lab vans, and Nirbhaya squad vans. Inaugurations included the Utkarsh Hall, the new Park Site Police Station building, Women and Child Help Desks in 87 police stations, a remote monitoring system in 216 police units, the launch of the Police Department’s X handle, Mission Karmyogi handbook, and the rollout of new police training programs.

CM Fadnavis also interacted with officers from Park Site Police Station, learning about their experience in the new premises, and extended his best wishes to the entire Mumbai Police force for continuing citizen-friendly policing.

The event was attended by Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Iqbal Singh Chahal, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, Additional Commissioner Deven Bharti, and a large number of officers and personnel from the Mumbai Police Department.
