‘Balvatika Abhiyan’ kicks off in UP on April 16, paving the way for early childhood education

Lucknow : The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is set to launch the ‘Balvatika Abhiyan’ from April 16 to April 29. This campaign, themed “Sunehari Shuruaat Balvatika Ke Saath” (A Golden Beginning with Balvatika), seeks to strengthen pre-primary education by transforming co-located Anganwadi centres into Balvatikas. It aims to lay children’s educational foundations while promoting active community participation
.
Under this initiative, co-located Anganwadi centres have been designated as Balvatika classes to facilitate structured pre-primary learning. The Basic Education Department, through Samagra Shiksha Uttar Pradesh, is working systematically and sustained to enhance learning environments and develop resources for children aged 3 to 6.

Campaign Objectives

▪️ Raise awareness about the significance of early childhood education through community engagement
▪️ Encourage parents and community members to enrol children aged 3–6 years in Balvatika
▪️ Prepare children aged 5–6 years for seamless transition into Class 1
▪️ Ensure that all children in the 3–6 age group are connected to Balvatika classes

Key Activities Under the Campaign

▪️ April 16–17: Prabhat Pheri to be conducted with primary school children, led by public representatives
▪️ April 18–21: Special Gram Sabhas to be organized, highlighting the campaign’s objectives and core messages
▪️ April 22–23: Community engagement through role plays and storytelling sessions, including puppet shows and interactive storytelling by children
▪️ April 24–25: Creative competitions for children and parents involving rangoli, dance, music, poems, paintings, and crafts using paper and clay
▪️ April 28–29: Discussion of campaign objectives during Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and SMC meetings
