CM Yogi inaugurates 30th Bhimanagari Mahotsav in Agra

Agra : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, strongly condemned the incidents of violence in West Bengal, asserting that only strict action, not mere appeals, would work against those who incite riots.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 30th three-day Bhimnagari Mahotsav in Agra, held on the occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, CM Yogi addressed a large gathering and expressed concern over the targeting of poor and Dalit Hindus in West Bengal.

He criticized the silence of the Samajwadi Party and Congress over the issue, stating that these parties have turned a blind eye while the lives of the marginalized are under threat. “In West Bengal, violence is being perpetrated against the poor and Dalit Hindus, but the Congress and SP keep mum. Mamata Banerjee considers these rioters as messengers of peace, while in reality, they are enemies of peace,” he said.

Calling for decisive action, CM Yogi stressed, “Appeals will not work against such elements; they need to be dealt with strictly and firmly.” Highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, he said his mission was to ensure justice for every Dalit, deprived and poor individual. “Whether injustice takes place in Bangladesh, Pakistan, or anywhere else, we must raise our voices against it. Baba Saheb always inspired us to unite and fight against injustice. I have come here today to urge all of you to follow his path and to assure you that the government stands with you,” he said.

The CM, while addressing the gathering, spoke passionately about Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s vision, the upliftment of the deprived sections of society, and the current social and political challenges facing the country.

The event, held at Sector-12 ground of Awas Vikas Colony, was vibrant and festive. Local schoolgirls performed traditional dances, while members of the Bhimanagari Central Committee honored CM Yogi by presenting him with a statue of Baba Saheb.

CM Yogi strongly criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party, accusing them of insulting Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to the nation. He said that Congress had conspired to defeat Baba Saheb in the 1952 and 1954 elections and ignored his capabilities while forming independent India’s first cabinet.

He also mentioned how the Constitution was undermined during the Emergency, saying, “Congress strangled the Constitution and even tampered with its Preamble.” He added that such actions went against everything Dr. Ambedkar stood for.
CM Yogi further accused the Samajwadi Party of disrespecting Baba Saheb by changing the name of a medical college that was named after him. “Our government restored the name to honor his legacy,” he said.

He also pointed out that Congress tried to delay giving Bharat Ratna to Dr. Ambedkar and opposed the construction of a memorial in his name in Delhi. “It was only when Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the BJP took the initiative that these honors became possible,” he stated.

The CM further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Panch Teerth’ related to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s life—his birthplace in Mhow, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur, Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai, and his memorial in London—have been developed into grand monuments.

He also announced the establishment of memorials and research centers in Lucknow and Agra, based on Baba Saheb’s vision. These centers will include hostels and scholarship support for students from Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

Highlighting his government’s commitment, CM Yogi said, “The scholarship scheme that was stopped by the Samajwadi Party in 2015-16 has been fully restored by our government and released in one go.”

Referring to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Chief Minister said it aims to provide Indian citizenship to persecuted Dalit Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. He criticized Congress and the Samajwadi Party for opposing the Act through violent protests.

“We stood with the deprived Hindu families coming from neighboring countries and gave them respect,” CM Yogi said, adding that the opposition parties stood against these efforts.
He also called the installation of the original copy of the Constitution—drafted by Dr. Ambedkar—in the new Parliament building a “historic step,” and a true tribute to Baba Saheb’s vision for India.

The CM praised the Bhimanagari Mahotsav in Agra, calling it a powerful tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The four-day celebration includes a birthday tableau, mass weddings, and honor ceremonies that, according to the CM, “keep Baba Saheb’s memories alive and relevant for the new generation.”

Recalling Dr. Ambedkar’s visit to Agra in 1956, CM Yogi highlighted his message on the power of education. “Education helps us understand what is right and wrong. Don’t become blind followers—stay aware, stay united, and raise your voice against injustice,” he said.

He praised Baba Saheb for reaching the top through struggle and becoming an inspiration not just for India but for the world. He reminded the gathering that it was Ambedkar who, through the Constitution, gave voting rights to Dalits, marginalized communities, and women—well before many other countries did.

CM Yogi also said that the state’s ‘Zero Poverty’ campaign would be dedicated to Baba Saheb. “Our goal is to ensure every poor person gets land, a house, ration card, Ayushman card, pension, and employment,” he said.

Highlighting government efforts over the last decade, he shared that 80 crore people have received free ration, 50 crore have been covered under Ayushman Bharat, and 12 crore households have received toilets and Ujjwala gas connections—all steps towards realizing Baba Saheb’s dream of social and economic justice.

Several dignitaries were present during the event, including Union Minister of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, UP Government Ministers Swatantra Dev Singh, Yogendra Upadhyay, Baby Rani Maurya, Dharamveer Prajapati, Jaiveer Singh, and Aseem Arun. Also present were MP Rajkumar Chahar, Rajya Sabha MP Naveen Jain, Mayor Hemlata Diwakar Kushwaha, UP Women Commission Chairperson Dr. Babita Chauhan, MLAs Dr. G.S. Dharmesh and Purushottam Khandelwal, and MLC Vijay Shivhare.

Other notable attendees included Kartar Singh Bhartiya (Patron), Dr. Ramji Lal, Bhimanagari Central Committee President Dharmendra Soni, General Secretary Shyam Jarari, Regional Committee President Vijay Singh Kardam, Secretary Er. Mahesh Chandra, and former MLA Sunil Chittor.
