Launch of Digital Certificate Distribution for Nursing Students by Chief Minister

Mumbai : A significant initiative was launched today, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis distributing blockchain technology-based digital certificates to students studying in the nursing field in Maharashtra. Two students were given these certificates as a symbolic gesture during the event.

The event, held in the Cabinet Hall, was attended by Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State Madhuri Mishal, Medical Education Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, and Commissioner Rajeev Nivatkar, among others.

The state government has taken a historic step by providing digital certificates to students completing General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) courses. This initiative, under the leadership of the Medical Education Department, is one of the key projects under the state’s 100-day action plan.

Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that these digital certificates will be given to students completing their courses from the 2023-24 academic year onwards. This will make online verification of certificates easier, ensure transparency and credibility in the hiring process, and curb the issuance of fake certificates.

Through the Maharashtra State Nursing and Paramedical Education Board, various nursing courses are offered. Every year, over 20,000 students complete the GNM and ANM courses. Until now, students were provided printed certificates; however, now they will receive blockchain technology-based digital certificates.

With this initiative, the Maharashtra State Nursing and Paramedical Education Board becomes the first educational board in the state to provide digital certificates.
