Morning Inspections by Senior Officials Aiding in Effective Monitoring and Ensuring Quality

Raipur : There has been a noticeable improvement in the functioning of urban local bodies following directives from Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Urban Administration & Development Shri Arun Sao. In departmental review meetings, Shri Sao had instructed municipal commissioners and chief municipal officers (CMOs) to conduct morning inspections of work being carried out in their jurisdictions.

Since February 2024, after his directive, commissioners of all municipal corporations and CMOs of municipalities and municipal councils have been visiting wards every morning along with their teams. These daily visits focus on cleanliness, construction progress, and the implementation of various schemes. As a result, there has been significant progress in door-to-door waste collection, road sweeping, operations at SLRM (Solid and Liquid Resource Management) centers and compost sheds, construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, organizing health camps under the Chief Minister’s Slum Health Scheme, as well as work on parks, ponds, road construction, water management, drain cleaning, public toilet maintenance, pipeline laying, and water supply under the AMRUT Mission.

With senior officials commencing ward inspections from 6 a.m. daily, the quality of cleanliness and construction work is consistently improving.

Shri Arun Sao continues to emphasize ensuring timely completion and quality of construction projects in urban bodies. He has directed officials to make cities clean, beautiful, and environment-friendly, while ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach all eligible citizens.

To bring more discipline in urban body operations, improve monitoring, and speed up ongoing projects, Shri Sao mandated daily morning field visits for all commissioners and CMOs. Following his instructions, officials have been conducting regular field inspections, resulting in noticeable improvements in the execution and quality of government schemes. Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) have reduced across urban areas, and the overall sanitation system has improved significantly.

These routine inspections are also helping in evaluating the performance of schemes, identifying key issues, and setting standards to enhance quality. As a result, government schemes are being implemented more effectively by urban local bodies.
