Defence Minister Invites Entrepreneurs from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, known for its thriving industrial ecosystem, is home to bold and innovative entrepreneurs. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to establish a Defence Cluster in the city to further boost these capabilities.
Fadnavis was speaking at a panel discussion organized by the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture on the theme “Marathwada: Defence Ground of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
India is reducing its dependence on imports for defence materials and is steadily becoming self-reliant. Over 500 products are now being manufactured domestically. With limitless opportunities in the defence production sector, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh invited the brave entrepreneurs of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to visit Delhi for further discussions under the leadership of CM Fadnavis.
The event was held at Hotel Rama International and was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Marketing Minister Jaykumar Rawal, Minister for OBC Welfare & Non-Conventional Energy Atul Save, MP Dr. Bhagwat Karad, MLAs Narayan Kuche and Anuradha Chavan, Divisional Commissioner Dilip Gawde, District Collector Dilip Swami, and many prominent industrialists. The session began with a ceremonial tree planting.
CM Fadnavis: “Develop a Defence Cluster”
CM Fadnavis said Maharashtra’s industrial magnetism is now shifting to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. About 10,000 acres of land have already been allocated to industries, and demand continues to grow—another 8,000 acres are planned for allocation. The region has a strong ecosystem including manpower, connectivity, and energy resources, making it a preferred destination for entrepreneurs. Many investors who come here end up settling permanently.
He highlighted that Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar leads in electric vehicle manufacturing and that its bold and passionate entrepreneurs are now aiming to step into defence manufacturing. He appealed to the Defence Minister to encourage this initiative. A defence cluster, like the existing auto cluster, should be developed here to capitalize on the immense opportunities in the sector.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Praises Entrepreneurial Zeal
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the courage and passion of the local entrepreneurs. He noted that their commitment to making India self-reliant in defence manufacturing is commendable. The government is determined and committed to this goal. India has already begun exporting domestically produced defence materials, increasing exports from ₹600 crore to ₹2,400 crore.
Over 500 defence-related products are now being produced in India. The government plans to reduce imports and increase domestic defence production to ₹3 lakh crore.
