Madhya Pradesh Offering Highest Wheat Procurement Rate in India at ₹2,600 per Quintal : CM Dr. Mohan Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that the Government of Madhya Pradesh is procuring wheat at the highest rate in the country—₹2,600 per quintal, which includes a ₹175 per quintal bonus to ensure maximum benefit to the state’s wheat farmers. He informed that Madhya Pradesh has surpassed Punjab and Haryana in terms of production and procurement.

While addressing a review meeting of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection at the Mantralaya on Wednesday, the Chief Minister instructed that e-KYC for all types of ration cardholders should be completed at the earliest. He further directed that ration should be distributed to all eligible beneficiaries promptly and without inconvenience.

Dr. Yadav emphasised that no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of their rightful entitlement under the National Food Security Scheme. He instructed officials to improve and streamline the public distribution system (PDS) to make it more effective and error-free.

The Chief Minister also emphasised that all welfare schemes, particularly food distribution, Ujjwala gas subsidy, and the expansion of domestic gas pipeline networks, should be implemented with full sensitivity and urgency so that citizens can benefit from the government’s facilities.

“Ensuring Food for Every Needy Citizen Is a Top Priority”

CM Dr. Yadav reiterated that error-free food distribution, timely payment to farmers, and ensuring food reaches every needy household are among the government’s top priorities. He also called for the expedited laying of domestic gas pipelines.

To support farmers growing millets like maize, kodo, and kutki, the Chief Minister directed that these nutri-grains be supplied through self-help groups and government fair price shops, thereby increasing their demand and encouraging millet farming.

 Wheat Procurement Must Be Completed by May 5

Dr. Yadav issued special instructions to ensure that the entire wheat procurement process is transparent and that farmers receive payment in the shortest time possible. He urged that procurement be completed by May 5 for all farmers who have booked slots before the April 30 deadline.

]Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput informed the meeting that QR codes will be printed on all food grain sacks to prevent manipulation or discrepancies. Similarly, warehouses under the MP Warehousing Corporation will be equipped with QR code systems.

A control command centre is being established in Bhopal to centrally monitor food distribution, fair price shops, and food stocking activities. The department is also modernising 1,596 warehouses and implementing insurance policies under updated guidelines to provide maximum risk coverage. To maintain hygiene and quality, mechanised cleaning machines have been installed at procurement centres, and grain analysers and signage systems are being implemented at all warehouses

The department has also introduced a new innovation by setting up Jan Poshan Kendras (Nutrition Centres). In collaboration with the central government, 30 fair price shops in Indore have already been converted under this pilot project. Proposals to establish 15 such centres, each in Ujjain and Sagar, have also been prepared.

As per the briefing, 1.31 crore families across 29 eligibility categories are receiving food grains under the National Food Security Act. Sugar is also being provided to Antyodaya households. A special campaign for e-KYC of beneficiaries is ongoing, with 80.43% completion reported so far.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Dr. Rajesh Rajora, Additional Chief Secretary for Cooperation Shri Ashok Barnwal, and Additional Chief Secretary for Food & Civil Supplies Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami, Food Commissioner Shri Karmveer Sharma, and other senior officials Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of all departmental schemes and systems.
