Tamil Nadu Government Ensures Immediate Support for Tourists Injured in Jammu & Kashmir Attack
Dr. Jeremessen, who was injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir and later treated at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital, is under continuous medical care. His wife, Dr. Nayanthara, received updates on his health and was assured by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, that all possible assistance would be provided.
On April 22, 2025, a terrorist attack took place in Sehalkam, Jammu & Kashmir, targeting tourists, including some from Tamil Nadu. Upon receiving the news of the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin immediately ordered the activation of a 24-hour special assistance center at Tamil Nadu House in Delhi to assist the victims. The state government has also coordinated with the Jammu & Kashmir government to provide necessary aid to the affected families.
Additional assistance was provided by Mr. Abdab Rasool, Additional Deputy Commissioner, who visited the affected area in Jammu & Kashmir and coordinated efforts for relief and rehabilitation.
Dr. Jeremessen, a Tamil Nadu tourist, received immediate medical care in the state. An air ambulance was arranged to transfer him to Delhi on April 24, 2025, for further treatment. Tamil Nadu’s Special Representative in Delhi, Mr. A.M.K.S. Vijay, along with officials from Tamil Nadu House, facilitated his transfer to AIIMS for treatment.
On the same day, Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin communicated directly with Dr. Nayanthara to assure her that the Tamil Nadu government was doing everything possible to support her husband and their family. The Chief Minister also assured that all required assistance would be provided to the injured, and Dr. Nayanthara thanked him for the quick response and support.
Furthermore, around 40 tourists from Tamil Nadu who were in Jammu & Kashmir have been safely sent back to Chennai by train. Additional tourists who were still in the region are being assisted in returning home under the direction of the Chief Minister.
