CM Shinde Ensures Clean Indrayani River for Devotees
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the cleaning work of the Indrayani river basin. He emphasized that the water of the holy Indrayani river and its ghat should be kept clean.
Pune: Lakhs of devotees from all over the state come to Alandi for Ashadhi Vari and bathe in the holy Indrayani river with faith and devotion. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed the administration to ensure that the water of the holy Indrayani and its ghat remains clean.
Today, Chief Minister Mr. Shinde inspected the cleanliness of the Indrayani river ghat area during his visit to the Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi at Alandi. On this occasion, MP Srirang Barane, Principal Secretary of the Environment Department Praveen Darade, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Collector Dr. Suhas Diwas, Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Vinay Kumar Chobe, Alandi Municipal Commissioner Kailas Kendra, and other departmental officials were present.
Chief Minister Mr. Shinde stressed that care should be taken to prevent contaminated water from the companies in the Pimpri Chinchwad industrial area from entering the Indrayani river. He noted that lakhs of devotees visit on the days of Ashadhi Vari Sohla and Kartik Ekadashi to have darshan of the Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi. Besides these events, a steady flow of devotees continues throughout the year. Considering the importance and sanctity of the river, measures should be taken to ensure that the ghat and water of the Indrayani river remain clean year-round. He also directed the administration to provide adequate facilities for the devotees.
