Sharma highlighted the importance of prioritizing physical infrastructure while taking future population growth and resource demands into account. He explained that the state government has created a roadmap for ‘Viksit Rajasthan-2047’ by dividing 45 departments into 14 key sectors. This vision document has been developed in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Viksit Bharat-2047” vision and refined based on inputs from NITI Aayog. A state-level steering committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, is overseeing its implementation.

Departmental goals have been aligned with four major themes of development. Future budgets will reflect this vision, and Sharma stressed the importance of preparing a phased roadmap starting with goals for 2030. He also urged officials to present the vision document in simple language and actively incorporate public feedback.

He called for focused efforts in rural education, water, electricity, roads, health, and employment. He emphasized sustainable use of natural resources to ensure future generations are not deprived.
Encouraging public transport, Sharma said growing populations would strain transport systems, requiring efficient traffic management and eco-friendly initiatives. He advocated for mineral-based industries to be set up near mining areas to cut costs and reduce pollution. He also stressed on unlocking Rajasthan’s immense tourism potential, directing the development of Shekhawati’s havelis and boosting religious tourism by increasing accommodation options like hotels and resorts.
Reviewing PHED goals, Sharma noted water conservation is crucial. He advocated rainwater harvesting and enhanced groundwater recharge, supporting initiatives like ‘Karmabhoomi Se Matribhumi’. He also suggested the use of treated sewage water for non-potable purposes to reduce consumption.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments and the Chief Minister’s Office, all part of the state-level steering committee.
