On this occasion, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Shri Sahu for his new responsibilities.
Speaking at the event, CM Sai said that today’s ceremony is a celebration of Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage and traditional hardworking spirit, which has preserved the soul of the state for generations. He described Shri Jitendra Sahu as an educated and progressive farmer with extensive social experience, expressing confidence that the Board will reach new heights under his leadership.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting oilseed crops, especially during the summer season when farming demands more water and energy. He noted that adopting crop diversification and focusing on oilseeds is vital, and both the Sahu community and the Telghani Development Board have a significant role to play in this effort.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, CM Sai stated that the Board can contribute meaningfully to this campaign. He cited an example from a village in Surguja district where farmers collectively grow organic aromatic rice and sell it at ₹300 per kilogram. Similarly, some farmers are extracting mustard oil through traditional methods and selling it for up to ₹1,000 per litre. The Chief Minister stressed the need to promote such innovations across the state.
CM Sai also highlighted that under the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’, his government has fulfilled most promises within just 15 months. He mentioned the ‘Awas Survey Plus Plus’ campaign, which will identify houseless families by April 30 and ensure they receive housing benefits. Additionally, the state government has relaxed rules in housing schemes to benefit more needy families. He shared that the Centre has set a target of building 3 crore homes nationwide, which will directly benefit the people of Chhattisgarh.
He further informed that on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day, 1,460 Atal Digital Service Centres were launched in 146 development blocks of the state. These centres will help deliver government services and scheme benefits directly to citizens at the village level.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said the government has entrusted the Telghani Development Board to a well-educated and grassroots-level Chhattisgarhiya farmer from the Sahu community. He expressed confidence that Shri Sahu will successfully fulfil the Board’s objectives under his leadership.
