Mumbai : The Dikshabhumi Development Plan in Nagpur has been finalized by the Dikshabhumi Smarak Committee. The state government has provided funding for this project. However, there has been opposition to the construction of the underground parking lot. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative Assembly today that this work is being suspended in consideration of public sentiment.
Members Dr. Nitin Raut and Narayan Kuche raised this issue in the House.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that Dikshabhumi is a monument of national significance. The Dikshabhumi Smarak Committee has finalized the development plan for the site, and work is ongoing. However, it is not appropriate to have disagreements regarding such development projects. Therefore, a joint meeting of the protesters and the memorial committee will be convened. Until then, the underground parking project is suspended. Further decisions will be made after the joint meeting, he said.
